Autumn Makeup Favourites

This Autumn we have rounded up a few of our favourite makeup products. Linda and I have collaborated to share a few products we have been reaching for everyday.

Chanel: Soleil Tan De Chanel

To start, we have the luxurious velvet finish bronzer by Chanel. Soleil Tan De Chanel. Warm and buttery in its sizeable jar. The formula, a cream to gel; blends seamlessly into the skin leaving a gorgeous, supple, sun kissed glow.

The versatility of the product means not only can it be used in its traditional sense as a bronzer. It’s light, dreamy skin-like finish looks forgiving when blended all across your face, neck and décolletage before you apply your foundation. For me, having suffered a round of severe acne, I am coming to appreciate that no makeup makeup skin achieved with a subtle diffusion of light and shadow. So put down the powder bronzer and invest in a tub of this. The sheer size of the pan means this product will last you forever. If not forever, at least a good few years!

Tarte: Tarteist Pro Palette

Linda is lusting over the Tarteist Pro Palette with it’s variety of universal mattes and glitter shades that can take a girl from day to night. The four iridescent duochrome finish colours may look a little intimidating at first but pat some of that baby champagne shade on the centre and inner corner of your eyes will add a pop of dimension to your look.

She loves colours that are bold, edgy and dramatic. If you’re feeling extra daring, pat some of the colour Trendy with its teal metallic finish blended out with any of the brown tones in the palette.

For something a little everyday, dip your blending brush into the lighter taupe and brown hues on the left two columns on the pan.

YSL Volupte Tint in Balm

The YSL Volupte tint in balm has been a hot seller in NZ and world wide. The first YSL store I visited, I was told they had sold out upon launch. Disappointed but not deterred, I went to another YSL store and thankfully they had a few colours left.

The clever hybrid formula of a balm and lipstick in one isn’t exactly revolutionary. However, what is revolutionary is the formula that is creamy, hydrating and feels like a sheer balm on the lips. The bullet of the lipstick is embossed with a lip shape that deposits the colour; quirky and innovative – what’s not to love! The outer shell is a moisturising balm that coats and nourishes the lips. Especially with this autumn season where lips are prone to getting a little chapped, it’s hard to wear your satin and matte finish lipstick. Opt for one of these as a treat for your lips this season.

The colour I picked was a neutral cool pink. It gorgeously enhances my own lip colour. The colour payoff is sheer but that doesn’t compromise the vibrancy of the shade. I find it difficult to wear a traditional lipstick on a daily basis but applying this is like a dream. Your lips are left plumped and juicy and not to mention the classic mango scent infused in all YSL lipsticks. It really is a treat, and if you’re like me, you’ll need to exercise some self control and not lick it all off of your lips.

Benefit GALifornia Blush

Benefit’s GALifornia  is a coral pink blush housed in Benefit’s signature box-o-powder form. The design was inspired by the 1970 Bohemian girl with its retro kaleidoscopic pattern and swirls of vibrant hues of pink, peaches and corals.

The gold flecks in the pan translates luminosity back into the cheeks. Sweep this across the cheekbones for a statement blush look or swirl it on the apples of your cheeks for something a little cheeky and sweet. And of course, Benefit has generously provided a round tapered brush to make application on the go a breeze. Linda’s been reaching for this quirky blush everyday, she finds it’s an easy formula to build and it gives her the perfect just coral pink flush.

Charlotte Tilbury: Eyes to Mesmerise in Marie Antoinette

Finally, Charlotte Tilbury, the eponymous brand with the following of A  list celebrities and super models of the century. The eyes to mesmerise formula is richly pigmented to deposit an effortless yet captivating swipe of colour on the lid.

I do not kid about the intensity of its pigmentation. Simply dot your ring finger into the frosted jar and you’ll have enough colour payoff to achieve maximum impact on one eye. Even as a cream formula, it doesn’t budge on the eyelids – not even after a day of wear.

The oyster brown sheen of this shadow gives a glossy wet finish to the eyelids. The eye area is instantly lifted and illuminated to achieve that runaway glossy lid look. As a busy girl, I can’t really afford the time required with powdered eyeshadows. If you’re anyone like me who can be caught doing her makeup on the public transport, it’s a must have in your makeup bag. It’s a compact size and pretty much the eye look I’ve been wearing everyday.

And so that’s a round up of all our favourites this season! Let us know which products you’ve been loving this season!
